DoDEA Grants
Congratulations to ILTexas on the third DoDEA world language grant!
The Language Policy journal recently published an article announcing the cohort of DoDEA FY 24 WLARP Grantees. International Leadership of Texas was awarded $2 million for the Fine Arts and Chinese project. Click the link to view the full article.
ILTexas has been awarded two 5-year grants in 2022 and 2023 by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) for the Chinese Advanced Language (CAL) project.
The CAL project is expected to increase the language proficiency level of all ILTexas students, with a focus on military-connected and JROTC students, through:
- Providing ILTexas Chinese teachers with advanced professional development (PD), including training and instructions from Advanced Chinese Instructional Coaches
- Providing high school students access to a free Chinese language and culture immersion summer camp
- Hiring additional Chinese language teachers at K-5 level
Military Connected Academic Support
According to the students enrollment data provided by International Leadership of Texas Public Education Information Management System, in the school year of 2024-2025, 27% of our high school students are enrolled in the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (MCJROTC) program..
