How much does the trip cost and what does the cost include?

Total Cost - $950 

The cost of the ticket includes: buses, lodging, meals, two t-shirts. Students are welcome to bring additional spending money for souvenirs. 

How do I pay for the trip?

How will students be traveling?

Students will travel via charter bus. Buses are each equipped with bathrooms and WiFi. Each bus will have 1 AP on board who will serve as bus captains. Girls and boys will be on separate buses. 

What are the hotel arrangements?

At each destination, we have reserved rooms at two hotels. Girls and boys will be lodged at separate hotels. Hotels are all reputable and brand name, including Hilton, Marriott, and Holiday Inn.

Who will chaperone my students?

Two Assistant Principals (one male, one female), will serve as the trip supervisors. There will be one chaperone per eight students. Students will be grouped into teams of four. One chaperone will oversee the two teams. 

Can parents chaperone or volunteer on the trip?

No. Chaperones will be ILTexas staff members. We will not have parent chaperones or parent volunteers on the trip. 

What will my student need to wear?

Students will be expected to wear their formal uniforms on the first day of the trip when they visit the State Capitol Building in Austin. There will also be days where students wear their trip t-shirts, which they will be given before they leave for the trip. 

Other days, students will wear their casual uniforms, including ILTexas polos, khakis, etc. All clothes must be school appropriate. If they can wear it at school, they can wear it on the trip. If it is not school appropriate, they cannot wear it on the trip. 

Can my student bring their phone?

Yes. Students will be allowed to bring their phones on the trip. If you are unable to reach your student via their phone, Gonzo Gonzales will be your point of contact and will always be available via phone or email.

Additional clothing recommendations, as well as a detailed packing list will be shared closer to the date of the trip.

Who is eligible to go on the trip?

The Texas Road Scholars trip is for 7th grade students at any ILTexas campus. Students must be passing all classes and must be in good academic and disciplinary standing. 

If my students need special accommodations, can they still go on the trip?

We will work with students and parents to ensure that every eligible student has the opportunity to participate in this travel opportunity if they would like to. This includes but is not limited to: 

• Students with special needs
• Students with food sensitivities or special diets
• Students who have medication or other medical needs
