The first day of school is almost here, and we want to ensure your family is fully prepared to make it a smooth and exciting start to the new year. Whether you're new to ILTexas or returning for another great year, here are some essential steps to help you get ready for Thursday, August 15:
1. New to ILTexas Families: Complete Your Enrollment
If you're new to the ILTexas community, don't forget to finalize your enrollment. This is an important step to ensure your student has a seat reserved for the school year. For help completing your enrollment, visit our enrollment page, which has our enrollment team's contact information. A member of our team is ready to assist you!
2. Pick Up Your Welcome Packet
All ILTexas families must stop by your campus to pick up your welcome packet. This packet includes essential items like driveline cards and a Chromebook for your student depending on their grade level. Make sure you don’t miss this step! Visit your campus page for more information. If you're unsure when to stop by, contact your campus to confirm that someone will be available to assist you.
3. Double-check the ILTexas Dress Code
To make sure your student is in dress code, please review our uniform and dress code policies. For details, visit our uniform page. Unable to get the full formal uniform for the first day of school? That’s okay! Please be sure to send your student to school, even if you don’t have their full uniform yet. We also recommend that families review the Parent/Student Handbook to stay informed about any important updates and policies. The most important thing is that we see your students on the first day of school. If you need assistance with uniforms, please communicate with your campus, which can assist you.
4. Verify Immunizations
The State of Texas requires certain vaccinations for students in schools. Make sure your child's required immunizations are up-to-date or in the process of being completed. This is an important requirement for attending school. For more information on health services and immunization requirements, check out our health services page.
5. Get a Good Night of Sleep and a Healthy Breakfast
A successful first day starts with a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. Encourage your student to rest well and eat a nutritious meal to start the school year strong. Remember, preparation is key to soaring into a new year at ILTexas! Now is a great time for families who may qualify for free or reduced-price meals to complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Priced Meal.
Bonus Tip for Parents:
It’s okay to have a few tissues handy as you drop off your student. The first day of school is an emotional milestone for both students and parents!
