September marks Attendance Awareness Month, a reminder that showing up for school each day makes a meaningful difference.

Every day in the classroom gives our Eagles another opportunity to learn, build relationships, strengthen their leadership skills, and move closer to their goals. Even a few missed days can add up, making it more difficult for students to stay connected and on track.

Consistent attendance also helps ILTexas maintain the resources that support our dedicated teachers, student programs, and campuses. In Texas, school funding is closely tied to student attendance data submitted to the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

We also recognize that getting to school every day isn’t always easy. Transportation, health, housing, family changes, and other circumstances can affect a student’s ability to attend consistently. That’s why attendance is a shared responsibility, and why ILTexas offers resources to help:

Families in Transition (FiT) — Support for students experiencing homelessness or foster care
Counseling Services — Mental health and social-emotional support for students and families
Parent University & Family Engagement — Resources and opportunities to keep families connected and informed
Multilingual Family Communication — Important information provided in the languages our families need
• Campus Counselors & Community Connections — Connections to resources for food, clothing, housing, and other needs

If your family needs support, please contact the ILTexas Counseling Services team at counseling@iltexas.org. Together, we can help every Eagle attend, succeed, and soar!
