HOLLY NORRIS

Senior year has been full of insights for ILTexas student Kristal Salvador, who, until this year, thought she would go into pre-law in college. Now?

"This year, I totally changed what I wanted to be, and I was more interested in pre-med," said the Windmill Lakes-Orem High School senior. Kristal's sister was born pre-mature, and that experience her family's experience with pediatric nursing in particular helped make the shift for her. "What a blessing it is to have someone there helping you throughout the journey," she said. Her participation in HOSA, a medically-focused student organization at WLOHS, was another key factor in her decision.

While at ILTexas, Kristal was heavily involved on campus, participating in JROTC, Model UN, Student Council and National Honor Society. "Those clubs helped me help within my community."

Kristal also participated in ILTexas' exceptional learning opportunities, including Cyber, Language, and Leadership at Texas A&M, the Chinese Summer Language Program at Ole Miss, and our Taiwan immersion trip, traveling with other young leaders to experience life in a foreign country where they could put their Chinese language skills to use.

This fall, she'll head to the University of Houston, and thanks Ms. Clark, her long-time leadership teacher, for helping her focus her interests into new fields this year.

Congratulations to Kristal and the class of 2025!
