CAITLIN MADISON

Garland, TX – ILTexas Garland High School is celebrating a major achievement as Cadet Sofia Ramos has received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, one of the nation’s most prestigious military institutions.

Ramos, a founding ILTexas student and standout leader in ILTexas Marine Corps JROTC, has demonstrated excellence in both leadership and competition. Holding key leadership positions within the JROTC program at Garland HS, she has been instrumental in guiding her peers and setting a high standard of discipline and dedication. In addition to her leadership roles, Ramos has competed at a high level, showcasing her skills and commitment to excellence in various JROTC competitions.

Beyond her involvement in JROTC, Ramos has also served as a campus ambassador for VIP visits, representing ILTexas Garland HS with professionalism and poise. Her ability to lead, communicate, and represent her school has made her a respected figure among students, faculty, and visiting dignitaries alike.

Her appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy is a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and commitment to service. The academy, which prepares cadets for leadership roles in the U.S. Air Force, accepts only the most highly qualified candidates who exhibit strong character, academic excellence, and leadership potential.

Reflecting on her achievement, Ramos shared her motivation for joining the academy: “I’ve always felt a strong calling to give back to the country that has given me so much. The Air Force Academy isn’t just a college but a place built to give me a challenge, a mission, and a commitment to something bigger than myself. I’m especially excited to study cyber and Chinese because protecting our nation means more than defending land, sea, and air but also safeguarding the digital frontlines as well.”

As Ramos prepares for this next chapter, she carries with her the values instilled through ILTexas and JROTC—integrity, service, and excellence. The ILTexas community celebrates this momentous achievement and looks forward to her future successes as she embarks on her journey at the Air Force Academy.
