COLLEGE STATION, Texas – ILTexas is proud to announce that Tatum Howell, a third grade student at ILTexas College Station K-8, is among the Top 50 International Chinese Bridge Competition finalists. She previously won first place at the Chinese Bridge Competition for Texas charter school students in April of 2022.

The Chinese Bridge (Hanyu Qiao) Chinese Proficiency Competition is an annual worldwide Chinese speaking and performance competition. The international competition is for students from the elementary to university levels to demonstrate their proficiency in the Chinese language.

Howell was required to submit three short videos for the competition, including a self-introduction, a Chinese speech, and a Chinese talent for the performance section.

"Howell has a strong passion for the Chinese language and culture," said Helen He, director of Director of Confucius Classroom Coordination at ILTexas Global. "She represents thousands of ILTexas students who love the Chinese language and its culture and desire to use it to better themselves."

Howell will participate in the Chinese Cultural Knowledge Q&A on November 13th.

Voting is open to the public for the Best Popularity Award Winner on the Chinese Bridge Competition app available on Apple and Google Play for Android devices. ILTexas parents, students, and staff are encouraged to vote for Howell as she moves forward in the competition. Instructions for voting can be found here

Voting ends at 12am on November 14, 2022 (CST).
