For Carla Bennett, the director of Reading Language Arts at ILTexas, summer reading is an important way for students to maintain or improve their literacy skills.
“Students who read at least 20 minutes a day during the summer will keep from losing any reading achievement and should even gain some,” she said. “The goal is to help students find what they love to read so they build their love of reading.”
