CAITLIN MADISON
Congratulations to the Windmill Lakes-Orem High School Marine Corps JROTC cadets for their outstanding performance at the Marine Corps National Championship! The Unarmed Exhibition Team proudly placed 3rd in the nation, showcasing exceptional precision, teamwork, and dedication on the national stage.
In order to compete, they competed against 30 schools in their MCJROTC Region which consisted of schools from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. After the results of their regional qualifier, Windmill Lakes-Orem HS cadets earned a qualifying spot at the Marine Corps National Drill competition.
The competition has categories in armed drill (carrying rifles) and unarmed drill (without rifles). Within these two categories are regulation drill and exhibition drill. The Windmill Lakes-Orem HS team earned 3rd place in unarmed exhibition at the National Championships. This is a tremendous accomplishment for a program only in its third year.
Congratulations to the cadets and their Marine Instructors, 1stSgt Jorge Valdez and MSgt Donnevan Dixon, for their dedication and commitment. This achievement reflects the hard work and discipline of the cadets, as well as the leadership and support of their instructors and school community. We commend them for representing the ILTexas Marine Corps JROTC program with honor and excellence.
Well done, cadets—your success is an inspiration to us all!
