Soaring Through Culture: Inside the 2025 ILTexas Chinese Language Immersion Camp

At ILTexas, we prepare students to lead in a global world, and our 2025 Chinese Language Immersion Camp is one of the many ways we bring that mission to life.

This summer, students are participating in a week-long immersive experience focused on strengthening their Mandarin fluency and deepening their understanding of Chinese culture. From morning lessons in all-Chinese classrooms to real-world conversations in Richardson’s Chinatown, every moment is designed for high-impact, hands-on learning.

Learning by Doing

Each morning, students engage in full-language immersion classes held in our Chinese, Science, and Social Studies halls. All instruction is conducted entirely in Mandarin to encourage natural language acquisition.

In the afternoon, students rotate through interactive culture classes that reinforce language learning through creativity, movement, and fun: Calligraphy, Martial Arts, Crafts, Music, Dance, and Sculpture.

The day ends with performance practice sessions as students prepare for a final showcase to demonstrate their skills for families and staff.

Mandarin in the Real World: Exploring Chinatown, Richardson

One of the most powerful parts of the camp? Students dine daily in Richardson’s Chinatown, practicing Mandarin in authentic, real-world settings. They order food, interact with native speakers, and apply what they’ve learned beyond the classroom walls.

Why It Matters

The 2025 ILTexas Chinese Language Immersion Camp helps students build confidence, cultural understanding, and Mandarin fluency, all while having fun.

Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on cultural activities, and real-world practice, our students are developing the skills to become compassionate, globally minded leaders.
