3/7/2022 - RICHARDSON, T.X. - International Leadership of Texas (ILTexas) is proud to announce two staffing changes within the charter’s leadership team, effective 3/28/2022. ILTexas is rapidly growing to provide even more students the opportunity to become exceptional leaders in the international community. This planned growth includes the construction of a new K-8 campus in New Caney, T.X., opening in August 2022, and four new K-8 campuses opening in August 2023. These new campuses are expected to bring in over $400,000,000 in revenue over the next five years that can be put straight back into our classrooms and our teachers. To ensure the success of these projects, the current Chief of Staff, Aaron Thorson, has been tapped to become the Deputy Superintendent of Operations/Chief Operating Officer.
Before joining ILTexas, Thorson attended Purdue University on a four-year Army ROTC scholarship and was commissioned after graduation in 2002 as an Officer in the United States Army. He was in the U.S. Army for almost nine years as an Aviation Officer, serving a total of three combat tours with two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. During this time, he logged over 600 combat hours in a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter and led over three hundred combat missions, earning multiple awards for bravery and dedication to service. After his time in the Army, he earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in 2014 while working in the manufacturing industry where he eventually became a Plant Manager.
Thorson is a true servant leader who is devoted to fulfilling the mission of ILTexas. He and his wife are both dedicated educators and are the proud parents of three ILTexas Eagles!
With this change, ILTexas is proud to announce Marcus Young as the new Chief of Staff.
Young has been with ILTexas since 2017 where he has held several positions. Initially, Young served as the Senior Marine Instructor for the ILTexas Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) at ILTexas Arlington-Grand Prairie High School, where he successfully developed and implemented the ILTexas MCJROTC Program and significantly contributed to the leadership environment for the school. Young was selected to lead the growing organization as the new ILTexas Mansfield K-8 Principal and currently serves with the Deputy Superintendent of School Leadership providing additional needed administrative and operational support.
Young has been a steadfast model of servant leadership, with over 20 years of experience in the United States Marine Corps (USMC). He is a former combat helicopter Crew Chief executing embassy evacuations and search and rescue missions from international waters and at one point was the Commanding Officer in the largest Marine Corps Provost Marshal's Office in the world where he managed teams across six districts, 30 departments, and two continents. He continued his service to our Nation as a diplomatic representative to US interests in Colombia. He has won many awards for bravery and leadership in the United States Marine Corps (USMC), including three awards for valorous acts in combat.
Young is a family man, he and his wife live on a farm and enjoy spending time with their two children (24/25), their first grandchild, and their animals. He currently speaks English, Spanish, Japanese, and Swahili and is learning Mandarin Chinese. His drive and dedication toward achieving the ILTexas mission will be a true and welcomed asset.
ILTexas is proud and very grateful to have both Aaron Thorson and Marcus Young and congratulates them on their continued success.
