Haenle will be the first speaker in ILTexas’ Leadership Speaker Series in 2020

RICHARDSON, Texas (January 10, 2020) – On Wednesday, Paul Haenle will address students via Youtube live from the Carnegie–Tsinghua Center based at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. The leadership master class will be held from 8:15 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. CST on Wednesday, January 15. The interview will be broadcast to all ILTexas High School campuses, where students will ask questions and interact from their home towns.

Haenle holds the Maurice R. Greenberg Director’s Chair at the Carnegie–Tsinghua Center based at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. In addition to running the Carnegie–Tsinghua Center, Haenle is an adjunct professor at Tsinghua, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses to Chinese and international students on international relations and global governance. Haenle also sits on the board of directors for the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.

Prior to joining Carnegie, he served from June 2007 to June 2009 as the director for China, Taiwan and Mongolia Affairs on the National Security Council staffs of former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. From June 2007 to January 2009, Haenle also played a key role as the White House representative to the U.S. negotiating team at the six-party-talks nuclear negotiations. From May 2004 to June 2007, he served as the executive assistant to the U.S. national security adviser.
