International Leadership of Texas students have embarked on a learning journey across the state in the 2024 ILTexas Texas Road Scholars trip!

At ILTexas, the belief is that education needs to be reinforced with experience. Every year, the charter works to ensure that students have the opportunity to get outside the classroom, and participate in trips that bring their history books alive.

On the 2024 ILTexas Texas Road Scholars trip, students will get a taste of history, state government and higher education. 7th graders from ILTexas DFW, Houston, College Station, and Liberty County campuses are taking a 5-day tour (May 13-17) across the state to locations such as the Alamo, the USS Lexington, NASA, the Texas State Capitol, and a variety of renowned college campuses.

Follow the journey across Texas below with daily recap photos and videos!

DAY 1: AUSTIN

On the first day, students got to tour the Texas State Capitol building and meet several lawmakers. In their interactions with Capitol Staff and State Representatives, they learned more about state government and the history of Texas politics. Day one also included a visit to the University of Texas at Austin college campus.

The Battle of the Alamo took place during Texas' war for independence from Mexico in 1836. In addition to the Alamo, students also visited the University of Texas San Antonio college campus, furthering the effort of ILTexas to expose students to higher education during their time at the charter.
